This report shows an air filtration problem developing in a large Detroit.
Note the increase in sodium and upper-end wear. This type of engine has tin-coated cast-iron pistons, so the high tin and iron show piston and cylinder wear,
while chrome shows ring wear. Sodium is abrasive and can cause problems quickly if not kept in line.
