Now hiring: Writer/Analysts

We are a family-owned laboratory looking for writers/data analysts to translate lab results into plain English.

This job entails writing creative, concise reports and talking with our customers about their engines. An interest in engines helps, but the ability to write well is FAR more important.

We realize we’ll have to teach you about engines and oil. We have an extensive training program just for this purpose, which culminates in tearing down and reassembling an actual engine. Even if you don’t know anything about engines, if you can write well, this may be the job for you!

Role Responsibilities

  • Excellent command of the English language, especially punctuation and grammar
  • Ability to translate data into plain English
  • Good observation skills and a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to spot trends
  • Use creativity to convey technical information to everyday people
  • Edit copy generated by other analysts

Include a cover letter with resume. Seriously. The cover letter is your chance to sell yourself. It shows us how well you can write, and it tells us why we should call you instead of the hundreds of other people who apply. Resumes without a cover letter will be set on fire and launched into the dumpster.

We offer all the standard benefits, plus myriad weird benefits. Excellent health insurance for you and your family? Check. Vacation and holiday pay? Check. AFLAC supplemental insurance, life insurance, Simple IRA, YMCA membership? Check, check, check. Plus, casual atmosphere, free oil samples, and paid lunch.

But wait, there’s more! Have you ever dreamed of becoming a pilot? If not, you aren’t dreaming big enough. If you’re interested, Blackstone will help you to obtain your private pilot’s license. Find yourself going to Chicago or otherwise on the 80-90 toll road? We have toll-road transponders you can use.

People join Blackstone because they need a job. They stay because it’s a great place to work. This is the job you’ve been looking for!
